New City Players is passionate about developing and staging new works by local playwrights.

We believe it is the responsibility of theatre makers to nurture the talent of local writers by giving them a place for their work to be fleshed out by actors & directors, and providing a stage where their work can be engaged with and critiqued by the public.

The process is fourfold:

1. New plays are submitted to the artistic team.

By filling out the form below and emailing your play to

2. Selected plays are staged as a reading by New City Players.

This is the first phase in allowing the playwright to experience their work in action by engaging theatre artists and the public.

3. the playwright will be given 6 months to make any necessary rewrites.

Based on 1) the feedback of the theatre artists involved and the public and 2) on the recommendation of the New City Players’ artistic team.

4. Selected plays will be fully produced as a side stage performance during New City Players’ season.
